Q 1. Define the following terms.
a) Blog- Blog is a piece of software/website which allows you to write an online diary on a website. 
b) News groups- A newsgroup is an internet based discussion about a particular topic. It is a place where people can talk about a particular subject by reading and leaving messages.
c) Remote Login- Remote login/access means allowing authorized user to login/access other computers (hosts) on a network and interact as if the user is physically hosting his computer.
d) Telnet- Telnet is a network protocol used on the Internet or Local Area Network (LAN) connections which provides a bidirectional interactive communications facility through command line interface.
Q 2. Answer the following questions- 
a) What do you understand by the term 'Internet Protocol'?
Internet protocol is a Communications protocol for computers connected to a network, specially the internet, specifying the format for addresses and units of transmitted data.
b) How does the TCP/IP work?
Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is responsible for breaking data town into small packets before they can be sent over a network and for assembling the packets again when they arrive.
Internet protocol (IP) is responsible for addressing,sending and receiving the data packets over the internet.
c) Write a short note on the working of FTP.
File Transfer protocol (FTP) is a means of transferring a file from one computer to another over internet.
d) Explain SSH and its working.
Secure shell (SSH) is a protocol which facilitates secure communication between two systems using a client/server architecture and allows users to log into server host systems remotely. 
e) What is E-Mail. Give any two advantages and disadvantages of E-Mail.
E-Mail or electronic mail is the transmission of messages over electronic networks like the Internet.
Advantages- 
(1) Besides the cost of our internet connection, email is free.
(2) Emails typically arrive within seconds or minutes anywhere in the world.
Disadvantages-
(1) Viruses are easily spread via emails.
(2) The recipient needs access to the internet to receive e-mail. 
f) What is SMTP?
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is a standard communication protocol for sending email messages on business networks and the Internet.
g) What is Usenet?
Usenet  is a collection of newsgroups where the users can post messages on different topics and these posted messages are distributed via Usenet servers.
h) How is uploading different from downloading?
Transferring files from a client computer to a server computer is called 'uploading' and transferring from a server to a client is 'downloading'.
