a) What is MS‐Excel?

MS‐Excel is a spreadsheet software program developed by Microsoft that allows users to organize, format and calculate data with formulas using a spreadsheet system.

b) What are the advantages of using Spreadsheet software?

Advantages of using spreadsheet software are:

1. EFFICIENCY:- We only enter the values, variables and formulas into a spreadsheet once and get results. 

2. FORMATTING:- We can specify the font style and size, define the border width and cell size of table, add images and color everything.

3. PRESET FUNCTIONS:- We need not to enter every formula manually. It provides a range of preset functions.

4. GRAPHICAL DISPLAY OF DATA:- It can transform data sets into various types of graphical displays.

c) List out the features which are new in Excel 2016.

New features in Excel 2016 are : 

1. Backstage View

2. Find whatever you need (Tell Me)

3. Look up relevant information (Smart Lookup)

4. Share your work with others (Share)

d) Explain the term 'Cell Referencing' and write down its types.

Cell Reference means how a cell address will be referred, when a formula is being constructed. 

There are three types of cell referencing in Excel. 

1. Relative Referencing

2. Absolute Referencing

3. Mixed Referencing

e) How is relative cell referencing different from absolute cell referencing?

In Relative referencing, whenever a formula is copied from one part of the worksheet to the other, the cell address of the cell changes relative to where it has been copied. 

In absolute cell referencing is used when we don't want a cell reference to change when copied to other cells.

f) What are functions? Explain with an example.

Functions are pre-written formulas that perform calculations on the given values.

For example =SUM(   ) function calculates the sum of a range of specified cells .
